Sunil scored 236 not out in India's first innings agianst West Indies in the sixth and final Test at Chepauk. The master batsman thus registered his 30th century in Tests surpassing Don Bradman's record of 29 which stood for 35 years.

 
 Kapil Dev the Indian captain during the 1983 series bowled brilliantly. He took 9 for 83 in Ahmedabad during the West Indian tour of India.


Vivian Richards demolished bowlers world over. Against India, he had scored 1927 runs in 28 Tests at an average of 50.71 with 192 not out being his highest.

 
 The 1987-88 tour of West Indies, was the highlight for Narendra Hirwani. He took 16 wickets in the Chennai (the then Madras) Test. Sir Vivian Richards was the captain of West Indies. Interestingly this Test was the debut for Narendra Hirwani.


Though Richie Richardson failed miserably during his debut series in 1983, he proved to be thorn for India after that. Of the nine Tests, he scored 871 runs at an average of 58.06.
